Does your dryer vent need repair, or just cleaning? If lint comes back within months, the run is far longer than it needs to be or built from foil, or the exterior flap is stuck or missing, cleaning alone will not hold. The free inspection shows you the line end to end before anything is quoted.

What do we repair?

  • Transitions. The crushed foil or plastic hose behind the dryer is replaced with rigid or semi-rigid metal duct, clamped at both ends.
  • Disconnected joints. A vent that has separated inside a wall or floor is blowing warm, lint-heavy air into the framing. We reconnect and seal it properly.
  • Rerouting. Runs that snake across a basement ceiling or take four turns to reach the outside are shortened and straightened to a better termination point.
  • Exterior hoods and terminations. Painted-shut flaps, crushed hoods, missing covers and roof caps packed with lint are replaced with a hood that opens freely and closes when the dryer stops.
  • Bird guards. A guard fitted to the hood (from $150) that keeps birds and rodents out.
  • Nest removal. Nesting material pulled from the line (from $250), followed by a full cleaning.

Why does rerouting matter?

A dryer pushes air a limited distance, and every elbow costs several feet of that reach. The rule is simple: as short and straight as possible, in smooth metal duct, to a termination that opens outdoors. The newer developments around Limerick, Royersford, Skippack and Gilbertsville often put the laundry on the second floor above a garage, so the vent climbs through a chase, crosses an attic and exits at the roof — a long run that clogs fast and is hard to clean. Most can be improved with a shorter path, and the difference shows up as drying time on the very next load.

The Termination Is Where It Goes Wrong

Birds, nests and the exterior hood

A dryer vent is warm, dry and sheltered — exactly what a bird wants in spring. Once a nest is in, the flap cannot close, lint packs behind it and the dryer stops venting. We remove the nest, clean the full line, replace the hood if the flap is damaged, and fit a bird guard so it does not happen again. If you hear scratching behind the dryer or see straw at the hood, do not run the dryer until it has been looked at.

Why do cleaning and repair go together?

Because a repaired vent with lint still in it is a fire risk with new fittings, and a cleaned vent on a broken line clogs again by winter. When the inspection shows a repair, we do the full-line cleaning and the fix in the same visit under one written quote, and the One-Year Lint-Free Guarantee on the cleaning applies from that day.

What are the warning signs of a damaged vent?

  • Lint on the floor behind or under the dryer, or in the basement ceiling below the laundry.
  • A dryer vent cleaning that "did not last" — drying times crept back up within a few months.
  • The exterior flap never moves while the dryer runs, or is missing altogether.
  • A foil or plastic hose behind the dryer that is kinked, crushed or held on with tape.
  • The vent terminates in the attic, crawlspace or garage instead of outdoors.

What gets quoted after the inspection?

Bird guards and nest removal have published starting prices. Everything else — transition replacement, rerouting, hood or roof cap replacement — depends on what the camera finds and how far the line runs, so it is quoted flat and in writing before any work. Full list on the pricing page.

Dryer Vent Repair Questions

Why is foil flex hose a problem behind the dryer?

The ribs catch lint, the foil crushes when the dryer is pushed back, and it burns through in a fire. Rigid or semi-rigid metal has a smooth interior, holds its shape and does not fuel a fire. Replacing a foil transition is a short job, and we do it with proper clamps rather than tape.

Can you move the dryer vent to a different wall?

Often, yes. If the current run is long or crosses a ceiling, a new termination through a closer exterior wall can cut the length in half. The camera inspection and a look at the framing tell us what is realistic, and the reroute is quoted flat and in writing before anything is cut.

My dryer vents into the attic or garage. Is that a problem?

Yes. Warm, moist, lint-heavy air belongs outdoors; inside an attic it wets the insulation and piles lint next to the framing. We extend or reroute the vent to a proper exterior termination with a hood that closes. Bring it up when you book and we will scope it during the free inspection.

How long does a dryer vent repair take?

A transition replacement, exterior hood or bird guard takes under an hour on top of the cleaning. A full reroute with a new termination can take half a day depending on the path and materials. Every job gets a time window along with the written quote.

Do you clean the vent in the same visit as the repair?

Yes, and we recommend it. Cleaning is priced by laundry floor, from $129.99, and it goes on the same written quote as the repair. The One-Year Lint-Free Guarantee starts that day, and a fixed line is what makes it easy to honor.

Do you work in apartments and condos in King of Prussia?

Yes, with the owner's or management's go-ahead for anything that touches an exterior wall or roof. Many of the apartment and townhome vents in the area are long and shared-wall, and the same inspection-first rule applies. Call (484) 367-5944 and tell us the building; we will say what we need before scheduling.
